A great adventure to experience horse trekking across Tavan Bogd National Park, the most visited park in western Mongolia, while exploring pristine beauty of mother nature, including stunning Khoton, Khurgan and Dayan Lakes, incredible White river, which is called as “Milk” river by locals and largest and massif glacier, Potanin. Enjoy your visit a Kazakh family, learning their tradition and culture.
Ulaanbaatar (hotel or airport pickup and drop-off)
Transfer to Chinggis Khaan International Airport and take a domestic flight to Ulgii, the capital of Bayan-Ulgii Province. At the local airport our local English-speaking guide, driver and expedition cook will meet you. From there you will be driven to the Dayan Lake, where we will meet up with the local Kazakhs who will join our group with their camels and horses. Overnight in a tent. (L/D)
Today we will start our horse ride to the Khoton and Khurgan Lakes. The landscape around the lakes is stunning, with forests and snow-capped mountains. A car will follow us for safety. Overnight in a tent. (B/L/D)
We will ride along the northern shore of Khoton Lake to Biluut Hill. Overnight in a tent. (B/L/D)
We will ride to the Tsagaan River Valley. Camel support will follow us. (B/L/D)
On this day we will ride across the highest mountain pass with continued camel support. Overnight in a tent. (B/L/D)
Today our ride will take us to Shiveet Mountain. On the way, we will enjoy the spectacular beauty of the snow-capped Altai Mountain range with its glaciers. The lush meadows between the mountains are carpeted with wild and sweet-smelling flowers. On this part of the excursion, we may have the luck to see wild ibex. We will continue with camel support and overnight in a tent again. (B/L/D)
Following a glacier exploration, we will climb the Malchin Peak (4050m) on the border of Mongolia and Russia. The Malchin Peak is the lowest of the Holy Five Peaks and takes 6 to 7 hours to climb. (B/L/D)
A free day and we will take a break. It will be a day at your own leisure. (B/L/D)
We will ride north to the Oigor River where we visit a Kazakh family in their summer camp and experience their customs and culture. You can taste their locally made dairy products which play such an important role in their traditional diet. At this point, passenger cars will arrive from Ulgii. (B/L/D)
We will drive back to Ulgii and visit the local Mosque, local flea market, museum, and shop for local art and handicrafts. You will have the choice to stay overnight in a tourist camp or guest house and have the luxury of a hot shower.
Transfer to the airport and fly back to Ulaanbaatar. Meeting upon arrival and transfer to your hotel. (B)
