Enjoy world-known Naadam Festival, the biggest festival in the country, where traditional games, parades and all kind of popular folklore is displayed to form one of the most amazing spectacles in the world.
Ulaanbaatar (hotel pickup and drop-off)
Arrive in Ulaanbaatar. Our guide and driver will meet you at the airport and transfer you to the hotel. After check-in, you’ll be taken on a city sightseeing tour including a visit to the Gandan Monastery with its huge gold plated deity of Avalokiteshvara: a symbol of Mongolian national pride and cultural revival. See the monks chanting, spin some prayer wheels and view the intricately embroidered thangkas. The next stop is Sukhbaatar Square, the central square of Mongolia. After lunch, we will visit the National History Museum, where you can get all the background history of Mongolia from the Ancient period to the present time. Dinner and overnight in the hotel. (L/D
After breakfast at the hotel, you will have a chance to enjoy a 360° panoramic view of the city from Zaisan Memorial hill then go to see the preview of the Naadam Festival. You will visit a horse-racing site to watch a race of colts (a two-year-old colt) and archery, “Shagai” shooters. You will enjoy traditional art performance in the evening. Overnight in the hotel. Today you will watch the inauguration ceremony of Naadam Festival which is opened by the President of Mongolia. The opening ceremony features marches and music from soldiers, monks and athletes and live performances of the national instrument Morin Khuur and a choir concert before the real fun begins! There will be a tournament of wrestling and archery in the Central Stadium while horse races take place outside of the city center. Overnight in the hotel. (B/L/D)
This morning we will drive to the west 95 km (60 miles) to reach the Khustai Nuruu National Park, which is famous for the reintroduction of Przewalski’s wild horses. We will explore the extraordinary spot, where the wild horses graze, which once extinct in the wild. After lunch in the park, we will visit a local nomad family. There you can experience their way of life, their culture and traditions. Free horseback riding. Overnight in tourist ger camp. (B/L/D)
After breakfast, we go on hiking around exploring natural landscapes and wildlife – a great place for photos. After lunch, we will drive back to Ulaanbaatar. (B/L/D)
After breakfast drive to giant Chinggis Khaan Equestrian Statue. 40m high statue can be spotted from distance. You will have a chance to visit a small souvenir and cashmere shop. Farewell dinner and overnight in the hotel. (B/L/D)
